Paper Submission Site

DRC 2026 is utilizing a new paper submission site called Ex Ordo.

Ex Ordo is a paper submission software that is easy to navigate, modern, and seamless to transition to. It is designed for scientific, medical, and technical conferences just like DRC!

You will need to make a new account when you are ready to submit your paper.

If you have any issues, please do not hesitant to reach out or view the article below for assistance.

Tips for Preparing a DRC Abstract

The submitted abstract will be used by the Technical Program Committee as the sole basis for acceptance of the paper for presentation. Thus, the abstract should clearly communicate the new and significant results that have been obtained. In addition, accepted abstracts will be reproduced exactly as submitted, including submission for inclusion in IEEE Xplore (if Copyright form is given properly), if authors choose this publication option. (See important publishing note above.) Therefore, submitted abstracts should read like a short paper and be suitable for publication. Time and effort spent constructing a clear, concise and well-written abstract will maximize the chances of paper acceptance. New and significant work is a prerequisite for paper acceptance; previously published results will be rejected automatically.

Abstracts must clearly state:

  • The objective of the work
  • The results and accomplishments and their significance
  • The advancement over previous work

In addition, the figures should be very clear and well labeled. Abstracts with poor figures will be rejected.

Example abstracts from past DRCs can be downloaded below (PDF format).  Note that these do not necessarily follow the current abstract template but do model the type of content needed for a good DRC abstract. While unlikely, unusual abstract preparation questions should be forwarded to the DRC Conference Chairs at deviceresearchconference@gmail.com.

Format Guidelines

The format guidelines for Device Research Conference abstracts must be followed completely, including the required use of the abstract template (Word or LaTex). Abstracts must consist of one page of text and one page of figures. Pages must be letter size (8.5 X 11 in.) with margins of 1 in. or 2.5 cm on all edges (note: no A4-sized paper submissions or changes to the 1 in. margins will be accepted!) and font size not less than 10 pt. The abstract must be converted to Adobe PDF format for electronic submission.

The Text page should include the authors' names, address, affiliation, telephone number, and email address. Figures should be referred to in the text and clearly labeled & captioned so that they can be understood independent of the Text page. All text embedded in the figures must be greater than 8 pt font size. References to prior work should be included at the bottom of the Text page and within the 1 in. page margins.

Submission Instructions

All abstracts must be submitted electronically using the web-based submission. Abstracts should be uploaded to IEEE’s pdf eXpress to generate the final pdf. You will also submit the required copyright agreement during this step. Additional instructions can be found below.

For consideration of your abstract, the following information must be entered on the website before your abstract is uploaded.

  • Name, organization, country, phone and email of the first author
  • Names, organizations, and emails of the co-authors
  • Email address of the corresponding author if other than the first author
  • Identification of the abstract as invited speaker or student paper
  • Assignment of abstract category based on the topics that are provided
  • Decision to publish your abstract in IEEE Xplore

Should you encounter problems at any point during the abstract submission process, please contact the DRC Conference Chairs at deviceresearchconference@gmail.com.

Submissions are considered final upon submission and every effort should be made to ensure that submission is correct the first time. Under rare and unusual circumstances, a revised abstract can be uploaded as a new submission, which will be accepted at the discretion of the Program Committee. Please email the DRC Conference Chairs at deviceresearchconference@gmail.com explaining the changes and give the Abstract ID number for the old and new submissions.

IEEE COPYRIGHT NOTICE

During the paper submission process, you will see a question that states “If you paper and/or poster is accepted, are you interested in publishing your paper with IEEE Xplore?”

The question has a disclaimer below it that says: Please note that selecting "Yes" DOES NOT mean your paper will be automatically submitted to IEEE. If your paper is accepted, you will receive instructions on how to complete the Copyright process that is required. This question is solely to gauge your interest on Copyright.

You then have two options:
Yes
or
No

Please select either Yes or No during the time of submission.

Then, if your paper is accepted, you will receive an email that notifies you of your acceptance. It will also include the information to fully process your IEEE Copyright Form. Again, answering “Yes” to the above question DOES NOT qualify as a successful copyright transfer to IEEE.

Authors may not submit the Copyright form after the proceedings have been published in IEEE Xplore.
